The Old Testament

                     Selected Verses

Read About GOD's Wisdom Below !

"And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)  And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;"
Genesis 14:18

“You must be the people’s representative before GOD and bring their disputes to him.
Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they must perform.
But select capable men from all the people – men who fear GOD, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain –
and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens."
Exodus 18:19

"And the LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD will drive you.  And there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.  But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the LORD your God and obey his voice. For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them."
Deuteronomy 4:27  ESV

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up… you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:6

"If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods'--which you have not known--'and let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him."
Deuteronomy 13:1

“Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the LORD your GOD is giving you,
and they should judge the people fairly. Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your GOD is giving you.”

Deuteronomy 16:18

“A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear woman’s clothing, for the LORD your GOD detests anyone who does this.”
Deuteronomy 22:5

"When the MOST HIGH gave the nations their inheritance, when HE divided all mankind, he set up boundaries for the peoples, according to the number of persons of Israel.”
Deuteronomy 32:8

"And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace. So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them."
Numbers 6:22

“But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant… Those who hate you shall reign over you”
Leviticus 26:14-17

“In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”
Judges 21:25

"
10 So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who asked him for a king. 11 And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. 12 He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. 14 And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. 16 And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. 18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.”
Samuel 8:10

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
"Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!

 Job: 38

"Then Job answered the Lord and said:
"I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,  Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, 'I will question you, and you shall answer Me.'
"I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.
Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."

 Job: 42

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork *
Psalm 19

" The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
Psalm 23:1

“Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him,
And he shall bring it to pass.
He shall bring forth your rightousness as the light,
And your justice as the noon day.”

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him”
Psalm 37:3

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear,
Psalm 46:1

"Be still, and know that I am God;"
Psalm 46:10

“Thus they were defiled by their own works, and played the harlot by their own deeds. Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against His people, So that He abhorred His own inheritance. And He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, and those who hated them ruled over them.”
Psalm 106:39-40

"The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, "You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."

 Psalm 110:4

the womb is a reward”

Psalm 127:3

And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him
And HE shall direct your paths.”

Proverbs 3:5

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but it's end is the way of death."
Proverbs 14:12

“Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge.”
Isaiah 5:13

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light,
and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”
Isaiah 5:20

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Isaiah 9:6

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of GOD stands forever.”
Isaiah 40:8

"Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other."
Isaiah 45:22

"Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,"

Isaiah 46:9

“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?”

Isaiah 53:1

“All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Isaiah 53:6

" For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you.  In overflowing anger
for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,"
says the LORD, your Redeemer. "This is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah
should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, and will not rebuke you.
For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and my covenant of peace shall not be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:7

"The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.
Jeremiah 7:18

"But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble.
But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine."
The women also said, "And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make cakes for her, to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her without our husbands' permission?"
Then Jeremiah spoke to all the people--the men, the women, and all the people who had given him that answer--saying:
"The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them, and did it not come into His mind?
So the Lord could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you committed. Therefore your land is a desolation, an astonishment, a curse, and without an inhabitant, as it is this day.
Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord or walked in His law, in His statutes or in His testimonies, therefore this calamity has happened to you, as at this day."
Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people and to all the women, "Hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt!
Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: 'You and your wives have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands, saying, "We will surely keep our vows that we have made, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her." You will surely keep your vows and perform your vows!'

Jeremiah 44:17-25

“They bend their tongue like a bow, falsehood and not truth has grown strong in the land,
for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know Me, declares the Lord.”
Jeremiah 9:3

"And afterward, I will pour out my spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
I will show wonders in the heavens and on earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved;"
Joel 2:28
